Ocean Magnetic Light Covers: An Underwater World on Your Ceiling
Sea turtles gliding through blue water, dolphins at play, an octopus, and coral reefs packed with fish. Our eleven ocean magnetic light covers are printed on 8 mil backlit film and held to the ceiling grid with magnet strips, so they go up in minutes without tools. Available in 2x4 and 2x2, and in 1x4 for every design except the octopus. See every theme in our magnetic light covers collection.
Why Underwater Scenes Work So Well Overhead
Underwater photos are naturally lit from above, with sunlight filtering down through blue water. Put one on a ceiling fixture and the effect is surprisingly real: it feels like you are looking up from the sea floor. It is why ocean themed light covers are a favorite for under-the-sea classrooms, pediatric offices, and aquarium-style rooms.
Blue Light, Calm Feel
Deep and turquoise blues bring a cool, quiet tone to a room, and the film softens the fixture's glare.
Lots to Look At
Schools of fish, reef detail, and sea animals give kids and patients something to search for and talk about.
Magnets Do the Work
Apply the magnet strips to the back, then press the cover onto the steel grid. No tools or maintenance request.

Pick Your Sea Creature
Kids especially love choosing their favorite animal. Here is what lives in this collection.
The Centerpiece of an Under the Sea Classroom
Under the sea classroom themes are one of the most popular ideas teachers search for, and most of the decorations go on walls and doors. The ceiling is usually left as bare fluorescent panels.
Ocean light covers finish the theme from above. A teacher can cover every fixture in the room before the first day, and the softer blue light helps keep a room of kids calmer. When the theme changes, the covers come down without leaving anything behind.
- Completes an ocean or sea life theme
- Softer, cooler light for students
- Teacher-installable with magnets
- Class A fire rated film
Ocean Light Covers vs Aquarium Ceiling Projectors
Both put sea life on the ceiling, in very different ways.
| Ocean Magnetic Light Cover | Aquarium Ceiling Projector | |
|---|---|---|
| Works with lights on | Yes | No, needs a dark room |
| Coverage | The whole fixture | A projected patch |
| Power | Uses your existing light | Needs an outlet |
| Effect on glare | Softens it | None |
Magnet Strips, Then Press It Up
Each ocean cover ships with magnet strips for the long and short edges. Work on a clean, flat table, peel back a couple of inches of adhesive at a time, and press the strips along the back edges of the film.
Then line up one long edge with the ceiling grid and let the magnets pull the rest into place. If you ever need to reach the fixture, pull a corner and the whole cover lifts away.
- Long and short magnet strips
- Steel grid or fixture frame required
- Removes in seconds
- Dry microfiber cloth to clean

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about ocean and sea life light covers.
Are ocean light covers good for an under the sea classroom theme?
Yes. They are one of the easiest ways to bring the theme onto the ceiling, and teachers can install them with no tools.
Are these pool light covers?
No. These are covers for indoor drop ceiling fixtures, not underwater pool lights.
What sizes are available?
2x4 ($39.99) and 2x2 ($32.99) for every design, and 1x4 ($32.99) for all but the octopus.
How do ocean magnetic light covers attach?
Magnet strips on the back of the cover hold it to the steel ceiling grid.
Will a blue ocean cover change the color of the light?
Light passes through the printed film, so the room picks up a soft, cool tint from the blue water, which many people find calming.
Are they fire rated?
Yes. The 8 mil backlit film is rated ASTM E84 / UL 723 Class A.
Do they fit LED panels?
Yes. They fit LED flat panels and fluorescent troffers in a steel drop ceiling grid.
