What Is Printed Adhesive Vinyl?
Adhesive vinyl is a thin PVC film with an adhesive backing. We print your artwork on the face, cut it to size, and you apply it to glass, acrylic, or another smooth surface. The film type decides how it looks and how it behaves: opaque white, crystal clear, translucent for backlighting, or writable dry erase.

Single or Double Layer: Backlit Vinyl That Glows
Translucent vinyl is designed for signs lit from behind: light boxes, menu boards, P.O.P. displays, and illuminated windows. It sticks to plexi, acrylic, lexan, and glass, and a 2.5 mil matte overlaminate protects the print.
Single layer print is made for daytime viewing. Double layer print lays down more ink so colors stay rich when the light is on at night. For light boxes, mount it on white acrylic rather than clear for even light.

Are window decals removable?
It depends on the adhesive. Our Premium Window Stickers can be repositioned during installation. Our window decal, clear vinyl, translucent vinyl, and dry erase vinyl use permanent adhesive for long-term graphics. Permanent vinyl can usually be removed later with gentle heat from a hair dryer and an adhesive remover.
What is the difference between a window cling and a window decal?
A static cling holds on with static and no glue, so it is easy to move but can fall off in heat or sun. A window decal uses adhesive, so it stays put through weather and cleaning. All of our window products are adhesive vinyl decals.
How do I apply a window decal without bubbles?
Clean the glass with soap and water or isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, then work from the center outward with a squeegee. For the easiest results choose our premium window stickers, whose air release backing lets trapped air escape.
What surfaces can adhesive vinyl stick to?
Clean, flat, smooth surfaces such as glass, acrylic, plexi, lexan, metal, plastic, and painted walls. Textured or dusty surfaces will not hold vinyl well.
Can I put a window decal on the inside of the glass?
Yes. Many businesses apply decals inside the window to protect them from weather and vandalism. Let us know if the graphic needs to read correctly from outside so the artwork can be set up the right way. Contact us if you are not sure.
Should I choose single or double layer translucent vinyl?
Single layer is best for daytime viewing. Double layer prints more ink so colors stay rich when backlit at night, but it can look darker when the light is off.
What acrylic should I use with translucent vinyl in a light box?
Use white acrylic. Clear acrylic does not diffuse light as well and can show hot spots from the bulbs.
What is the largest size you can print?
Our adhesive vinyl can be printed up to 52 inches high by 159 feet wide. For large windows, order panels with overlapping edges for the cleanest install.
How long should vinyl cure before I clean it?
Give the adhesive 24 to 48 hours to fully bond before washing the window or wiping hard over the graphic.
What file format should I send for printing?
Send a single-page JPEG or PDF in CMYK at 150 dpi, built at the size you are ordering. Do not include crop marks or bleed, and convert Pantone or spot colors to CMYK.
