Fluorescent Light Covers That Turn Glare Into Sky, Space, and Scenery
Our decorative fluorescent light covers are printed 8 mil backlit film panels that lay right on top of the diffuser already in your 2x4, 2x2, or 1x4 troffer. No tools, no wiring, no new fixtures. Just softer light and a ceiling people actually enjoy looking at, in classrooms, offices, clinics, and homes.
What Are Fluorescent Light Covers?
A fluorescent light cover (also called a light filter, light diffuser cover, or ceiling light panel) is a printed sheet sized to a standard drop ceiling fixture. It rests on the plastic lens inside the troffer, so the existing light shines through a full-color image instead of a bare white panel. The result is gentler, more even light and a ceiling that looks like open sky, deep space, a forest canopy, or your own design.
Softer, Even Light
The printed film spreads harsh fluorescent output into a calmer glow, which is why teachers, office workers, and people with light sensitivity look for covers to reduce glare.
Lay-In Install in Seconds
Open the fixture door, set the cover on top of the existing diffuser, and close it. Nothing is removed or replaced. Our installation guide walks through every step.
Fire-Rated Film
Covers are printed on 8 mil backlit film that is ASTM E84 / UL 723 fire-rated for commercial and educational buildings. View the E84 test report.

Fluorescent Light Covers for Classrooms and Offices
Bare fluorescent tubes behind a plain lens are bright, flat, and tiring to sit under all day. A printed cover turns each fixture into a soft window of sky or nature, so the room feels calmer while the lights stay on.
Teachers use them to build a calmer learning space and a more welcoming classroom, and office managers use them to take the edge off a harsh grid ceiling. Browse our classroom light covers and office light covers for room ideas.

Fluorescent vs Magnetic vs Fabric Light Covers
We make three styles of light cover. Pick by the fixture you have and how you want the cover to attach.
| Feature | Fluorescent (Lay-In) | Magnetic | Fabric |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it attaches | Rests on the diffuser inside the fixture | Magnets hold it to the outside of the fixture frame | Magnetic fabric panel on the fixture |
| Best fixture | Troffers with a hinged door and lens | LED flat panels and fixtures you cannot open | Fluorescent or LED fixtures |
| Look | Full-color printed image | Full-color printed image | Solid colors and soft cloud prints |
| Sizes | 2x4, 2x2, 1x4, custom | See magnetic collection | See fabric collection |

How to Install Fluorescent Light Covers
Most people finish a whole room in a few minutes. Turn the light off, open the fixture door, lay the printed cover on top of the existing acrylic diffuser with the image facing down, and close the door. The clips and frame you already have hold everything in place.
Because nothing is cut, glued, or removed, the cover lifts back out just as easily when you want to clean it or change themes. Step-by-step photos are on our installation page.
- Turn off the fixture
- Open the hinged door or lens frame
- Lay the cover on the diffuser, image facing the room
- Close the door and turn the light back on

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most about fluorescent light covers.
What are fluorescent light covers called?
You will see them called fluorescent light covers, light filters, light diffuser covers, ceiling light panels, and sky ceiling panels. Ours are printed backlit film covers that lay on top of the plastic diffuser already in a drop ceiling fixture.
Do fluorescent light covers help with migraines and headaches?
Many people who are sensitive to bright overhead light find that a cover makes the room more comfortable because it softens glare into a more even glow. We do not make medical claims; if light triggers migraines, talk with your doctor as well.
What sizes do fluorescent light covers come in?
Every design is available for 2x4, 2x2, and 1x4 troffer fixtures. For other openings, order a custom size cover from 1 to 42 inches tall and 1 to 72 inches wide.
How do you install fluorescent light covers?
Turn off the light, open the fixture door, lay the cover on top of the existing diffuser, and close the door. No tools or hardware are needed. See our installation guide.
Are fluorescent light covers a fire hazard?
Our covers are printed on 8 mil backlit film that is ASTM E84 / UL 723 fire-rated for commercial and educational buildings. You can download the E84 test report for your facilities team.
What are the best fluorescent light covers for a classroom?
Cloud and tree designs are the most popular choices for classrooms because they read as natural daylight. Many teachers mix in astronomy or ocean covers for a themed room.
Do these covers work on LED fixtures?
Lay-in covers work in LED troffers that open and have a flat lens like a fluorescent fixture. For sealed LED flat panels, use magnetic light covers, which attach to the outside of the fixture.
Can I get a fluorescent light cover with my own image or logo?
Yes. Upload artwork on our custom light covers page, choose a custom solid color, or order a custom size. Images print best at 150 DPI or higher.
How do I clean fluorescent light covers?
Use a dry microfiber duster for light dust. Do not wipe the printed film with a damp cloth. For heavier cleaning, lift the cover out and wipe it gently with a dry, soft cloth.
How much do fluorescent light covers cost?
Single theme covers start at $27.99 depending on size. Multi-panel sets run from $69.98 for two panels to $174.95 for five, and custom image or color covers start at $28.99.
